“While the Smoky Mountains had long attracted outdoor enthusiasts to the region, Parton made a strategic decision to become co-owner of the amusement park in Pigeon Forge in 1986 and name it Dollywood. The park quickly became Tennessee’s most visited tourist attraction, with Parton often opening each new season with a performance and a parade. State officials say Dollywood generates $1.8 billion each year and is the county’s largest employer.”

“Disneyland broke ground on a new 6,000-space parking garage to handle the influx of visitors coming to see the new Avatar, Marvel and Coco attractions and reimagined Tomorrowland debuting at the Anaheim theme park resort over the next five years.

“Disneyland began construction Monday, Aug. 24, on the new eastside parking structure and transportation hub with a shuttle bus and ride share drop off/pick up area as part of the $1.9 billion DisneylandForward project.”

“The short-lived Rocket Rods were never able to perform to designed show standards on the PeopleMover’s unbanked track — leaving the elevated infrastructure standing abandoned above Tomorrowland since 2000.

“More underused space hides behind the frequently closed doors of the Tomorrowland Theater that once housed “Captain EO” and “Honey, I Shrunk the Audience” and the former Starcade video arcade.”
