“Disneylanders have been clamoring for a new “Fantasmic” ever since the massive fire-breathing Maleficent dragon Audio-Animatronic burst into flames during a performance of the nighttime spectacular in April 2023.

“Disneyland opted to replace the cursed Murphy dragon animatronic — nicknamed after Murphy’s Law — with new special effects during the battle scene between Sorcerer Mickey and Maleficent when the show returned in May 2024.”

“After closing for refurbishment back in September, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disneyland made an unceremonious reopening earlier this week.

“Opening to guests on November 2nd, several weeks ahead of its planned return to operation, the attraction made waves on social media, as the attraction’s waterfall lift hill scene was operating with just misters.

Of course, fans were quick to presume the misters were a permanent replacement to the effect, creating quite a bit of discourse surrounding the change.

“However, that effect was purely temporary, as Laughing Place was able to capture a POV of the attraction today, with the waterfall on full blast.”

“Back in June, it was revealed that the current and temporary location for Earl of Sandwich would be closing in the summer. While it has lasted a few months longer than anticipated, it has now closed so that construction can finally begin on Porto's Bakery & Cafe.

“Next door, the Earl of Sandwich Tavern has also closed, according to theme park reporter Scott Gustin.

“The Earl of Sandwich as well as the Earl of Sandwich Tavern opened back in February of 2023, replacing the former La Brea Bakery.”

“Frito-Lay had already partnered up with Disney on Casa de Fritos, a restaurant in Disneyland where Rancho del Zocalo resides today.

“After discussing the toasted tortillas with Alex Foods, the Anaheim food plant that made taco shells for the restaurant, a salesman from Alex Foods had an idea. He suggested the Frontierland restaurant make its own version of the snack and recommended that they make use of the leftover tortillas by cutting them up and frying them.

“The chip became widely popular in testing and was launched nationwide in 1966, by which time the toasted tortillas had been rebranded as Doritos, Spanish for “little gold.””

“This fiscal year, more than $302.8 million in taxes and fees for the city are expected to be generated from the resort area, which covers 1,100 acres and includes the area immediately surrounding the Disneyland Resort and the Anaheim Convention Center.

“The region, bordered by Interstate 5, Vermont, Walnut and Chapman avenues, represents less than 4% of Anaheim’s total area. But according to city estimates, the area will generate the city 63% of its general fund tax revenues this year.”
