Disney parks considering Simpsons themed lands, survey says
Respondents were asked if they would like to see Simpsons attractions and meet-and-greet characters in Disney theme parks.

“A new survey recently conducted by Disney asks respondents if they would like to see Simpsons themed lands, attractions and meet-and-greet characters in the company’s theme parks, according to Disney Dude vlogger Drew Smith.
“Disney acquired the Simpsons in 2019 as part of the $71 billion deal for 21st Century Fox.
“The Disney acquisition did not affect the contract Fox had previously signed with Universal for exclusive rights to the Simpsons in its U.S. theme parks.”

“The ‘Celebrate Happy’ song will play as the soundtrack for the new state-of-the-art projection shows on the facades of It’s a Small World water ride at Disneyland and Carthay Circle restaurant at Disney California Adventure.”

“When Disneyland opened from the pandemic-related closure in 2021, the iconic Indiana Jones Adventure pre-show was cut down to just show the safety-related information with Sallah – as guests would be passing through the area much quicker than usual.
“The full version of Sallah’s safety spiel did return in the following years, but it’s taken until this month for the ‘Eye on the Globe’ segments to return to lineup.
“The ‘Eye on the Globe’ segment calls to mind classic newsreels from the era, explaining the backstory of Indiana Jones' quest to find the Temple of the Forbidden Eye.”

“According to a Dec. 6 court filing, $179.6 million would go to plaintiffs in terms of back pay and retirement contributions. Another $17.5 million in penalties will be paid to the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency. And $35 million will go toward attorney fees, with the remainder going to administration of the settlement.
“The lawsuit arose after Disney claimed it was exempt from Measure L, a 2018 voter-approved living wage initiative. The ordinance required any businesses in the city’s resort district that received city tax subsidies to pay workers at least $15 an hour starting Jan. 1, 2019, with hourly wages rising $1 annually through 2022.”
