“‘Rogers: The Musical’ will take over DCA’s Hyperion Theater on June 30 for a limited-time engagement set to run through Aug. 31.

“The 30-minute one-act live theater production will be performed several times daily Tuesdays through Saturdays on most weeks during the run.

“Complimentary spots in the ‘Rogers: The Musical’ virtual queue will be distributed via the Disneyland app on show days at 10:30 a.m. for the first two performances and 2 p.m. for the remaining shows.

“If you’re lucky enough to snag a seat you’ll get notified via your smartphone to join the physical queue 30 to 45 minutes before showtime, according to WDW News Today.

“You don’t need to join the virtual queue to see ‘Rogers: The Musical’ — but Disneyland highly recommends it. Stop by the Hyperion Theater main entrance to check on walk-up availability if you forget to join the virtual queue or it sells out quickly.”

Disneyland to begin rolling opening of San Fransokyo Square in July
Walt Disney Imagineering is transforming the Monterey Bay-themed land at Disney California Adventure into an architectural cross between the San Francisco Bay and Tokyo Bay areas.
By BRADY MACDONALD
PUBLISHED: June 22, 2023

“The twin towers of San Fransokyo’s Shinto shrine-inspired Golden Gate bridge will be installed starting next week as Disneyland continues the transformation of the Pacific Wharf dining area into a tribute to the ‘Big Hero 6’ film.

“The bridge spanning the waterway bordering the outdoor dining area at Disney California Adventure will close on Monday, June 26 to add the distinctive Torii Gate Bridge towers depicted in the 2014 Disney animated film. The bridge is expected to reopen in the next few weeks after work is completed.

“Work is expected to continue through mid-August on the overall transformation of Pacific Wharf into San Fransokyo Square.”

“Visitors will be able to pose for photos in DCA’s San Fransokyo with Hiro Hamada and Baymax, the adolescent hero from the film and his inflatable healthcare robot sidekick.

“A new San Fransokyo Makers Market retail shop will be decorated with decommissioned battlebots from the film along with a Megabot in the rafters.”

“The transformation will require Walt Disney Imagineering to turn the Monterey Bay-themed land into an architectural cross between the San Francisco Bay and Tokyo Bay areas. DCA’s Pacific Wharf area is themed as tribute to the Monterey fishing port on the California Central Coast. The ‘Big Hero 6’ city of San Fransokyo is a mash-up of San Francisco and Tokyo featuring distinctive Japanese and American architecture.”

“Construction walls have returned to Mickey’s Toontown just a few months after the themed land reopened following a yearlong refurbishment to address persistent problems in the popular kiddie playland.”

“Donald Duck’s water play area has yet to open. The water feature on the Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Gadget Coaster where a larger-than-life Chip is supposed to shoot water through a giant straw over the coaster track into a cup held by Dale isn’t working yet either.”

Disneyland closing classic Fantasyland rides twice this summer
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and Alice in Wonderland will emerge from brief renovations this week only to head back behind construction walls in July for additional work.

“Disneyland occasionally staggers refurbishment projects to keep attractions available to visitors for longer periods. Without staggering the refurbishment projects, Peter Pan’s Flight, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride and Alice in Wonderland would have all been down at the same time for four weeks straight.”
