Disneyland’s new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is delightful, thrilling and still plenty wet
Review: Disneyland adds a new Princess Tiana backstory, a host of adorable animatronic critters and a toe-tapping soundtrack while keeping the splash that made Splash Mountain famous.
By Brady MacDonald
UPDATED: October 22, 2024

I rode Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on Monday, Oct. 21 during the first day of Magic Key annual passholder previews at the Anaheim theme park and found the refreshed water ride to be a worthy and welcomed successor to Splash Mountain.”

Disneyland Hotel cocktail bar gets a Sleeping Beauty makeover
The Broken Spell Lounge takes over the former Steakhouse 55 restaurant location in the hotel lobby.
By Brady MacDonald
PUBLISHED: October 22, 2024

The Broken Spell Lounge in the Disneyland Hotel lobby will be open daily from 4 p.m. to midnight starting on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

“The former location of Steakhouse 55 had been recast as the hotel’s indistinct “Lobby Lounge” before the latest transformation into a romantic nightcap spot.

“The “enchanted woods” forest setting of the Broken Spell Lounge decor draws inspiration from Disney’s 1959 “Sleeping Beauty” animated film.”

Disneyland rolls out $400 Lightning Lane Premier Pass — Here’s how it works
The pilot rollout of the new line-cutting pass begins on Oct. 23.

By Brady MacDonald
UPDATED: October 16, 2024

“The Premier Pass allows visitors a single ride on each available Lightning Lane attraction at both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure — including Rise of the Resistance and Radiator Springs Racers.

“The big perk with the Premier Pass is that visitors can ride any Lightning Lane attraction at any time they want without scheduling the next available return time in the Disneyland app. Just walk up, jump on and ride what you want when you want.”

The Premier Pass does not replace any existing queueing options. Visitors can still use the free standby and virtual queues and pay extra for the Lightning Lane Multi pass ($32 and up) and the Lightning Lane Single passes good for Rise of the Resistance ($27 and up) and Radiator Springs Racers ($17 and up).”

How Disneyland’s $400 Premier Pass compares to other line-skipping perks
The eye-popping price tag costs $81 to $330 more than premium perks at Universal, Knott’s, Magic Mountain, SeaWorld and Legoland.
By Brady MacDonald
PUBLISHED: October 17, 2024

“Disneyland’s line-cutting perk has gone from the most affordable to the most expensive among Southern California theme parks with the introduction of a pricey new front-of-the-line option aimed at VIP big spenders.”

How Disneyland’s VIP Tour compares to Lightning Lane Premier Pass
A large party can get a guided tour of the park for about the same price as the premium Lightning Lane pass.
By Brady MacDonald
PUBLISHED: October 21, 2024

“Disneyland’s VIP Tours cost $500 to $800 per hour for up to 10 visitors. The guided tours last a minimum of 7 hours and a maximum of 10 hours.

“On the low end, VIP Tours cost $3,500 for a party of 10 or as little as $350 per person — in line with the $400 price tag for the new Lightning Lane Premier Pass.”

VIP Tours offer a lot more than just front-of-the-line access to the most popular rides at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. The VIP concierge meets you at your Disney hotel, books dining reservations, arranges reserved viewings for parades and nighttime spectaculars and offers insider tips and behind-the-scenes stories throughout the day.

“Upgrading from the Premier Pass to the VIP Tour might not make financial sense for a family of four, but it could save money for a party of 8 or 10 willing to splurge on the premium line-cutting service.

“Why spend $400 per person on Premier Passes when a large party can pay the same price and get a guided tour of the park with dining, parade and fireworks reservations in addition to the line-cutting perks?”
