Disneyland Honors World War II Veteran at Emotional Flag Retreat
The guest of honor that day was U.S. Army Staff Sgt. “Papa Jake” Larson, 101-year-old veteran who served during World War II. His life story is one of selfless service, courage, sacrifice, and love of his country. We were honored to recognize his service in a special way.
During World War II, Papa Jake bravely fought in six battles in Europe including storming Omaha Beach as part of the D-Day landing and later in the Battle of the Bulge. He was thrilled to visit Disneyland Resort for the first time and never imagined he’d one day be the center of attention saluting the American flag in the very park that had become a symbol of the dreams and freedoms he fought to protect.
As part of the ceremony, Papa Jake was named as an Honorary Citizen of Disneyland—a rare and distinguished honor. To make it official, Disneyland Resort President, Ken Potrock invited him inside the legendary Walt Disney apartment to present the veteran with an official certificate beautifully framed under glass.

The new Magnolia Park recently opened, situated in front of the train station between Tiana’s Palace restaurant and the Haunted Mansion.
Just beyond the gates to the Haunted Mansion attraction are the new, cultivated grounds. This expanded area has an enchanting aura that calls you to explore further!

Downtown Disney at Disneyland Resort is continuing its westside expansion with brand new shops opening soon. D-Lander Shop, a new fashion forward take on Disney merchandise, has soft opened to guests prior to their December 6th Grand opening.
D-Lander Shop is a new boutique located near the westside entrance of Downtown Disney. Featuring high-end collaborations like Pandora, Dooney and Bourke, Vera Wang, Loungefly and more. The new store is the perfect place to find a trendy outfit for your trip to the Disney Parks or your everyday style.

The majestic lobby of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is all decked out for the holidays, complete with an impressively large Christmas tree, gingerbread house and special treats.
The hotel’s Christmas tree can be found right in the middle of the lobby, stretching high up towards the ceiling.
Jolly Old Saint Nick himself also appears at the hotel intermittently in the afternoon/evening, with a storytime also scheduled.
DISNEYLAND 70TH ANNIVERSARY: New Entertainment, Returning Favorites, and More!
Resort’s 70th anniversary celebration begins on May 16, 2025, and runs through the summer of 2026, marking seven decades of Disney history.
The theme of the celebration, Happiness, pays homage to Walt Disney’s iconic dedication: “To all who come to this happy place, welcome!”
The festivities will include nighttime spectaculars, parades, a new show starring Walt Disney, themed decor, merchandise, and specialty food offerings. Join us as we explore all the details, from the return of Paint the Night to brand-new experiences like World of Color Happiness! and more
A highlight of Disneyland’s 70th will be a new show in the Opera House. Abraham Lincoln will be on temporary hiatus while a new show takes over the Theater. Walt Disney – A Magical Life will open on May 16, 2025 and features an animatronic of Walt Disney himself.
There will be a new daytime cavalcade at Disneyland. Special projections will appear on “it’s a small world” and Carthay Circle at night. Sleeping Beauty Castle will be decorated for the celebration. And there will be a new theme song called “Celebrate

New Avengers Reserve Store Soft Opens at Downtown Disney

This store offers a diverse range of items, including comic books, collectibles, superhero clothing, and toys for all ages.
Avengers Reserve is set to have its grand opening on December 6th, but will have a soft opening today at Downtown Disney District.
This shop features a wide range of products, such as comic books, collectibles, super hero-themed apparel, and role-play toys for all ages. The inventory will be refreshed regularly.
As you enter you will see a massive nine-foot sculpture of the Incredible Hulk who smashed through the wall, while Spider-Man is on top of the building.
Inside the store, a lively industrial vibe prevails, highlighted by dynamic lighting, authentic film props on display, and a designated area for gaming demonstrations.

Disneyland Resort Reveals Special SoCal Resident 3-Day Ticket Offer for Visits in Early 2025
Southern California Residents can enjoy special ticket offers to enjoy theDisneyland Resort in Early 2025, along with special discounted rates at the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort.
For a limited time, eligible Southern California residents can save on the purchase of a three-day, one-park per day ticket for as little as $67 per person, per day, for a total price of $199.
These tickets are on sale now for visits Jan.1 – May 15, 2025, any day of the week, based upon availability and subject to park reservations.
This offer is valid only for Southern California residents within ZIP codes 90000- 93599 with proof of eligible residency, including valid government-issued photo ID, required for both purchase and admission.
Tickets expire 5/15/25 and are not valid before 1/1/25.
