We discuss Disneyland as it was in 2001, which was 20 years ago! There was a lot going on, with Resort expansion and more! Plus, we catch up on current events at the Disneyland Resort, as always.

Shanghai Disneyland   • OPEN. Be sure to check their reservation system which requires everyone, including infants, to have a reservation. You must go to Shanghai's web page for advance reservations. Please visit their site for details.


Walt Disney World    • All 4 Walt Disney World theme parks are open.
                                 • Theme parks, Disney Resort Hotels, restaurants and other offerings may be modified, limited in capacity and subject to availability or closure.
You must have an advance reservation and valid ticket.

                                                          • "Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) while indoors and in Disney buses, monorail and Disney Skyliner, regardless of vaccination status. This includes upon entering and throughout all attractions. Face coverings remain optional for all Guests in outdoor common areas.". You may temporarily remove your face covering while actively eating, drinking or taking an outdoor photo, but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing during this time.  Masks must be worn at all other times.

                                  • Park Hopping is allowed within strict rules:

                                      1. You must make a reservation at one of the Parks. They do still require this as a private company.

                                      2. You must go to that Park first.

                                      3. Park Hopping does not start until 2PM.

                                      4. Access to Parks is still limited to their maximum occupancy. Check the Park you want to go to before traveling to it to make sure it is accepting Hopping guests.

                                      5. Check the Walt Disney World Park Hopper web page for updates to Park Hopping rules.


Disneyland        • Disneyland is OPEN!!!!!!! Face coverings are required for ALL guests while indoors except while eating (see Disneyland's web page for complete details).

                          • Like Walt Disney World, you must have a valid ticket AND make a Park reservation for the day you are interested in attending. Park reservations can only be made 60 days out at the present time. Be sure to check availability of the dates you are interested in before purchasing tickets.

                          • Disneyland announced its new yearly pass system called Magic Key Pass.

                          • All Hotels are open.​​

                         • The Downtown Disney District is open. Some table service is available following state and local rules. 


Hong Kong Disneyland    • OPEN. Advanced reservations with names and contact numbers are required. The Park will be closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays except major holidays. Please visit their web site for current requirements.


Disneyland Paris    • OPEN. Please visit their web site for up to date information on COVID restrictions and Parkavailability.


Disney Cruise Lines   • Disney announces the US ships will be sailing again starting August 2021.

                                    • Disney Cruise line has suspended European cruises through October 9, 2021. ​​


Aulani Resort   • OPEN. The state of Hawaii has strict travel requirements which include a 10 quarantine or negative test within 72 hours of your arrival. Please visit HERE for the latest details.


Walt Disney Family Museum  • The Walt Disney Family Museum is open but you must have reservation to enter the building. They will not admit you after 4p, even if you have a reservation. Please see their Welcome back page for details. They continue to provide virtual content. San Francisco County was recently moved into the Orange Tier, so please check their web page for current status. The World War II Special Exhibit opened March 19th in the Diane Disney Miller Exhibition Hall. See web page for availability and restrictions.

"As seen in this latest rendering of the attraction, the story will take place after the final kiss as Naveen and Louis join Tiana on her latest adventure, hosting a one-of-a-kind Mardi Gras celebration where everyone is welcome – during which some original music inspired by songs from the film will bring guests into the story. Tiana is leading the way and fans will be able to encounter old friends and make new ones along the way as well!"

"The original story of the attraction follows Princess Tiana and Louis the Alligator on a musical adventure as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance. Music for the attraction will be recorded by original cast from the movie Anika Noni Rose and Michael-Leon Wooley, among others."

Pelican’s Landing Coming Soon to Disneyland

"The seating area at Harbour Galley is being expanded to include a lower-level seating area next to a new dock. The combined upper and lower seating area will be called Pelican’s Landing and is expected to open later in 2021 at Disneyland."

Harbour Galley is being expanded to include an upper and lower seating area called Pelican’s Landing as part of a new dock structure, according to Disneyland officials.

"Disneyland is adding a multi-level waterfront dining area across from the Haunted Mansion in New Orleans Square with a view of the boats traveling along the Rivers of America that is expected to be open in time for the Christmas holiday season.

"Harbour Galley is adding an upper and lower seating area called Pelican’s Landing as part of a new dock structure, according to Disneyland officials. Pelican’s Landing is expected to open later this year."

"Disneyland rarely creates anything without a tie-in to an existing intellectual property connected to a Disney, Pixar, Marvel or Star Wars film.

"The most famous pelican in the Disney universe is Nigel from the 2003 Pixar animated film 'Finding Nemo.' The brown pelican with a passion for dentistry has appeared as a large puppet in 'Finding Nemo: The Musical' at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Florida and as a float in Mickey’s Storybook Express parade at Shanghai Disneyland in China."

"A pair of new lounges exclusively for Magic Key annual passholders at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure offer a quiet place to grab a cocktail and a chance to snap photos of Mickey and Minnie in Halloween costumes you won’t see anywhere else in the parks.

"The Magic Key lounge in Disneyland opened Wednesday, Sept. 1 for a limited time to keyholders. Advance dining reservations for the new Magic Key Terrace in Disney California Adventure will be available beginning Thursday, Sept. 2.

"Magic Key Terrace opened to annual passholders on Aug. 25 — the same day the Magic Key annual passes went on sale."

"The new Magic Key Terrace on the second floor of the Golden Vine Winery was formerly the Alfresco Tasting Terrace — which was also exclusive to annual passholders and their guests.

The Magic Key Terrace bar staff has created a secret menu cocktail called Nutmeg — named in honor of the Disneyland feral cat that likes to stop by the passholder exclusive patio lounge.

"Nutmeg belongs to a mostly hidden colony of feral cats that hunt rats at the Anaheim theme parks. The well-fed cats make rare daytime appearances in the parks, but are out in force during the overnight graveyard shift.

"Disneyland provides feeding stations, neutering and medical care for the feral felines that provide an invaluable service"

Disneyland Update – The Winds of Change Are Blowing!

"Wow! It’s been another busy week with the breaking news that the new Disney Genie Service is going to replace FastPass and MaxPass at Disneyland and FastPass+ at Walt Disney World. Disney also announced it would be making some minor changes to the Disability Access Service that includes some tech upgrades. Plus, we have some very important updates on how Magic Key will work and more info on the Princess and the Frog retheme of Splash Mountain!"
