“Disneyland has temporarily suspended fire effects in ‘Wondrous Journeys’ and ‘World of Color — One’ out of an abundance of caution following the ‘Fantasmic’ prop fire, according to Disneyland officials.

“Disney has temporarily suspended fire effects similar to those used at Disneyland’s ‘Fantasmic’ at select shows and entertainment experiences globally following the Maleficent dragon fire on Saturday, April 22, according to Disney officials.

“‘Wondrous Journeys’ features skyward flamethrower-like effects on the Fantasyland rooftops around Sleeping Beauty Castle during the fireworks show. ‘World of Color — One’ also features similar fire effects in Paradise Bay during the water show.”

The cursed history of Disneyland’s problematic ‘Fantasmic’ dragon that burst into flames
The 'Fantasmic' dragon was an embarrassing no-show throughout summer 2009 when the fire-breathing Maleficent was the centerpiece of the Summer Nightastic promotion.
By BRADY MACDONALD
PUBLISHED: April 25, 2023

“The Disneyland dragon that burst into a towering inferno during ‘Fantasmic’ has a troubled history stretching back more than a decade to the cursed debut of the 45-foot-tall audio-animatronic beast nicknamed after Murphy’s Law.”

“The massive high-tech 2009 robotic dragon from ‘Sleeping Beauty’ replaced a low-tech ‘Fantasmic’ prop that seemed rudimentary by comparison. Since the show’s 1992 debut, Maleficent’s transformation had been recreated nightly using a mechanical dragon’s head mounted atop a cherry picker boom lift with wings that were flapped manually using poles.”

Downtown Disney Shakeup Continues – Hot Chicken In, Favorites Out, Future Plans!
By Nathan Villamor -April 18, 2023

“Disneyland’s Downtown Disney shopping and dining district is undergoing rapid change. Nearly all of the restaurants in the zone have been replaced or updated in recent years, with even more changes on the way. Continuing the trend, Sprinkles Cupcakes has closed, as have Catal Restaurant and the Uva Bar. And, Earl of Sandwich has taken over the La Brea Bakery location (but will again be forced to move when a new Porto’s begins construction). A hot chicken sandwich quick service location is on the way soon, as are a number of high-end restaurants. Let’s take a look at all the changes on the way to Downtown Disney in the coming weeks and months…”…

Disneyland to open exclusive retro-futuristic Tomorrowland lounge — here’s how to get in
The only way to get into Disneyland’s new Star View Station lounge is to be a Disney Vacation Club member — or become one.
By BRADY MACDONALD
PUBLISHED: April 18, 2023

“The Disney Vacation Club Star View Station member lounge inspired by Walt Disney’s optimistic vision for the future will open on Wednesday, April 19 at the Anaheim theme park.

The new DVC Star View Station on the second floor of the Star Wars Launch Bay in Tomorrowland turns the unused ‘space’ in the perpetual white elephant building into a timeshare perk for members of Disney’s vacation ownership program.”

“The DVC lounge will offer members air-conditioned areas with comfortable seating, free WiFi access, mobile device charging stations and complimentary soft drinks from Coca-Cola Freestyle machines.”

Disneyland Dedicates New Windows on Main Street USA to Longtime Partnership With Make-A-Wish
by Tony Betti | Apr 28, 2023

“Disney and Make-A-Wish have been working together for decades, and with the company being that largest wish granter in the world for Make-A-Wish, Disneyland Park is honoring the relationship with a special set of windows above Main Street U.S.A. in the park.”

“Marking the first time in Disneyland park’s history that a window on Main Street, U.S.A., has been dedicated to a non-profit organization, the three windows include a center window dedicated to Make-A-Wish and all the wish kids past, present and future; and side windows honoring Chris Greicius, the wish that inspired the creation of Make-A-Wish, and Frank ‘Bopsy’ Salazar, the first official wish granted by Make-A-Wish (and the first Disney wish).”

Disneyland Update: The Last Splash, Crowd Flux & Keys to the Kingdom!
By Dusty Sage -April 17, 2023

“It’s been another interesting week at the Happiest Place on Earth. An original Downtown Disney restaurant and bar closed without fanfare over the weekend. Meanwhile, construction walls continue to come down at the Adventureland Treehouse, even as they go up around the soon-to-be former Pacific Wharf and French Market. Plus, we’ll show you what the parks look like on a traditionally wild weekend when the giant NAMM convention is in town, Dapper Days dances into the parks, and the annual Themed Entertainment Association holds its convention and awards show at the resort… you may be surprised… especially with a whole slew of new Magic Keyholders due to the resumption of sales last week. And if all that wasn’t enough for you, Splash Mountain finally has a closing date and a new Tomorrowland experience will open in just a few days.”

Disneyland Update – From Doom to Bloom
By Dusty Sage -April 24, 2023

“Hang on tight, folks; this is going to be a wild Disneyland Update. While we have news, photos, and video for you of a new experience in Tomorrowland, new food option in Downtown Disney, and some fun construction updates… we also have an unfortunate confluence of events that made this a horrible week for Disneyland. We’ll take a look at a near tragedy that lit up the night in a way that Disney didn’t intend, technology problems that kept guests from entering the park, AND a power outage that shut down parts of Disneyland for hours.”
